“The best gift from Allah is what He chooses for you, not what you choose for yourself.”

Ibn Ata’illah’s Hikmah highlights a fundamental principle of spiritual surrender—true contentment comes from accepting Allah’s choice over our own desires.

Often, we believe we know what is best for us, yet our perspective is limited, shaped by fleeting emotions and worldly expectations. Allah, in His infinite wisdom and mercy, knows what truly benefits our hearts, souls, and ultimate destiny. The best gift is not necessarily what we ask for, but what Allah grants us in His perfect knowledge and love.

This Hikmah calls us to develop a heart that trusts and embraces Allah’s will, recognizing that even hardships or unexpected turns in life are, in reality, divine gifts leading us closer to Him.

Through Tawakkul (reliance on Allah) and Ridha (contentment with His decree), we attain a state of inner peace, knowing that Allah’s choices for us are always superior to our own.
